-musicalentropy has been created to share information, and discuss about development of smart tools for music creation.

Why do I choose this name for my blog ? First, because that rocks baby ! And second, because I like this concept called “entropy”.

In thermodynamics, entropy is a measurement of chaos in a system, or of a lost energy quantity, no more available to produce something, as a consequence of a bad efficiency. This concept may be applied in other domains : ecology (pollution), psychology (the lack of control of ourselves, depression), economics (crisis and governement debts), electronics (losses because of the Joule’s effect) etc.

When I’m not thinking about hazy concepts, I’m also working for a french firm which help guitarists to record their amps after midnight, or dreaming all night long of filters and vacuum tubes…

  1. I love you phaser in guitar gadget. I sounds great :). Its My favorite phaser in plugin format(i’m on a mac running logic X).you should make a “pro” version
    ( i’d buy it !). a pro version would have all the features a plugin can do(sync to host tempo and such)

    1. Thanks a lot ! Well, I can’t say developing a “Pro” version of Guitar Gadgets has never been in my mind πŸ˜‰ But I think I need to improve my DSP skills a little before doing such a thing…

      However, I’m still planning to do an update of Guitar Gadgets Free anytime soon, and I’d like to add tempo sync capabilities to some of the effects.

  2. Hi guys, your effects are very interesting and not only for guitar. The only problem I have is that in Garageband I can’t see the rotary switch values changing when I “turn the knobs”. For example: I go from 0 to 10 in volume, I hear the volume change but the image of the knob stays on 0 and the number value doesn’t move either. Any solution? Cheers from Belgium (Dyo)

    I just heard about Guitar Gadgets over at KVR and was happy to learn that there’s a Mac version as well.

    Then I got curious about Spaceship Delay and tried to download the Mac version as well. However, the Mac link points to the same Windows version as the, er… Windows link does… πŸ˜‰ I get a .dll from both links.

    I am a student from Germany and I want to become an electrical engineer. I’m interested in non-linear dynamic systems and especially in digital simulating guitar distortion. I am only at the beginning. Today I saw your talk about “Virtual Analog Audio Effects Simulation with JUCE” at the JUCE summit 2015 at youtube. Great and very inspiring! I’m really fascinated about your work and I would like to go deeper into the topic.

    It would be very nice if you could share the C++ diode clipper example code you presented. Is this possible? I would like to experiment with it for fun (provided you agree). Furthermore I really would like to have a look on your PhD thesis about guitar amplifiers you mentioned in your talk. Do you have published your thesis? Can I find it in some library?
